Grandmother Rosella’s family has always raised Valdostana Pie Noire and Castana cows in Gressan, at the Coassod mayen and in Champlan, with the herd moving up to the alpine pastures in summer. In the late 1960s, from our grandparents’ marriage and the few animals owned by the maternal and paternal great-grandparents, today’s farm was born.
Since then, the herd has spent its summers at the Arp Vieille alpine pasture in Valgrisenche, where in 1961 one of the first electric milking machines in Aosta Valley arrived, carried up the mountain by mule. It is a bond with the mountains and the land, passed down from father to son, without ever being broken.
We chose to restore the Coassod buildings, dating back to 1854, which had become unusable due to collapses in the roofs, floors and vaulted structures. The agriturismo was rebuilt by faithfully reproducing the dry-stone walls of the time, using only the stones from the original structure. From certain angles, the building seems to echo the one that once stood here.
The only part that was not demolished, but simply restored, is the old vaulted cellar, now used for storing cheeses. The work was completed in May 2025, following the construction of the new prefabricated wooden barn with its adjoining dairy room and cellar.
Four rooms and a dining room created inside the old vaulted stables, where stone ceilings once stood. Intimate shared spaces, a peaceful atmosphere and a convenient location between Aosta and Pila. From the windows, you can spot Monte Rosa, Grand Combin, Mont Fallère, Becca di Viou and Punta Chaligne.
The relaxation room is reserved for guests. On request, you can book a <strong>holistic massage</strong>: Elisa and her father have completed dedicated training. The space also includes a treadmill, weights and resistance bands for those who would like to do some light exercise.
